Confidentiality

Student Services practitioners maintain records on all clients in keeping with standards of professional conduct. Our staff also has access to the Student Information Management System (SIMS) for purposes of enrolment confirmation. In general, information regarding clients is maintained by the consulted practitioner in strict confidence.

When appropriate, relevant details of your case may be discussed between Student Services practitioners as part of providing a combined service or for the purpose of peer review and consultation.

Release of Information and Limits of Confidentiality

Individually identifying information about a client is released outside Student Services only with the written consent of the client, except where verbal agreement is deemed sufficient by both practitioner and client. Information is only disclosed without client consent when there is a clear danger to the client or others, or there is a legal obligation to do so by court subpoena, search warrant or legislated requirement.
