For information about the cost of living whilst studying at UWA, the future students web pages will give you a general idea about the cost of living.
This is an estimate of the average cost of sharing a house or flat; living in a residential college for 35 weeks and returning home during vacation periods; living in homestay accommodation and living at home whilst studying.
All estimates are based on the assumption that you have deferred or have already paid for your University fees. Use of public transport is assumed. See notes on car and computer costs below.
Remember, these tables are provided as a guide only. There may well be other costs for you as an individual that have not been included. Students should also refer to the relevant faculty handbook or contact the department direct to ascertain additional study costs.
Computers Prior to buying a computer you may like to pick up a copy of a free brochure produced by the Department of Commerce Consurmer Protection (Ph 1300 304 054) which provides useful tips on buying a computer; or alternatively check out their web site: www.docep.wa.gov.au
Cars Owning and running a small car can be a very expensive proposition. Even with moderate kilometres, you should budget for at least $35 per week ($20 petrol and $15 for the 'hidden' expenses). This does not take into account unexpected repairs, which can potentially be extremely expensive.
DOCEP has a good website dealing with buying and repairing motor vehicles: www.docep.wa.gov.au |
